Juuri Kuran (玖蘭 樹里 Kuran Juuri?) is Yuuki's and Kaname's mother and a pureblood vampire whom Yuuki is stated to especially resemble. Juuri was the wife of Haruka Kuran as well as his sister since it is common for pureblood vampires to marry their siblings. It is stated that she has been alive for nearly 3000 years, a testament to the especially long lives of purebloods, as she still retains the appearance of a young woman. Ten years ago when Rido Kuran (her eldest sibling) appeared, after revealing in anger that Rido was after her child again, a statement revealing the existence of another child, with Haruka's permission she erased five years of Yuuki's memories and sealed away her vampire blood at the cost of her own life, because she wished for Yuuki to be able to live happily like a normal human girl. Headmaster Kaien Cross states that he is indebted to her, and it is revealed that she spared his life when he attempted to murder her when she was pregnant on the condition that he would establish a school where humans and vampires can co-exist. Her last wish was for Kaname to look after Yuuki.
